June was all about camping, adventure, and family. We were able to have some great times!
First of June we went camping with our friends the Weeks. We went up to Smith Rock where Scott and Shaun went rock climbing.

Driving Home and taking many breaks so we can avoid Kyle getting sick. |
It is a huge rock climbing place in Oregon. We camped at a KOA which was the first time ever camping at a KOA and it was awesome. They had a pool, showers, pretty much everything. However, we did experience some hard times.... This is when we learned that Kyle gets really bad motion sickness. The drive up to Smith Rock was really curvy. Half way up the mountain Kyle started crying and got this terrified look on his face. I could totally see it coming, but there was no where to pull over. Sure enough he threw up. We finally found a place to pull off and cleaned him up. We figured he was done due to how much he let out, but we were wrong. About 20 to 30 minutes later we heard that cry again. Sure enough it came again and this time there was even more! We filled a whole garbage bag full of clothes, blankets, stuffed animals, shoes, socks, practically anything that touched his throw up. We were wanting to turn back, but we had some of our friends things and since we got separated, we had to keep going. Plus, Kyle kept saying, "camping? camping?" Thankfully, after going through all of that Kyle was so tired that he slept the rest of the way. We did get some great news though. As you can see it was an eventful drive. We had just got pass a town called Sisters when Scott got a call. He had interviewed for a position at Oregon State University as the Assistant Director of Operations and Communications. We were lucky that we had service at the time and quickly pulled over so he could take the call. He got the job! We were so excited! It really is such a blessing. We camped for two nights and had a great time with our friends. Besides the driving part, it really was a great trip.
In the middle of the June we then decided to go camp at Crater Lake. Luckily the drive wasn't very windy and we made it all the way without having to do a clothing change for Kyle.

Hiking down the the lake |
Crater Lake is absolutely stunning. However, word of advise, go in September. There was still lots of snow and the mosquitos were terrible! We arrived in the afternoon and got camp all set up. We then went on a little hike around the camp ground where we found that the mosquitos were really bad. When we made dinner that night, I went in the tent to change Kyle and Scott was doing dishes. I could hear Scott slapping at the mosquitos. Sure enough he had about 10 bites on each arm from just cleaning a few dishes. Needless to say, we ended up hanging out in the tent from around 7p.m. until morning because they were so bad. The next day though we went and hiked down to the lake. Because crater lake only gets water from rain and snow, the water is so clear. You can see all the way to the bottom of the lake. It is quite amazing.
The following week, Scott's family came to visit. They were able to stay with us for about 5 days. We loved it! Kyle had a blast with his cousins and Grammy and Papa. We were able to take them to OSU and show them around campus. We then went out to Newport and played on the beach, explored downtown Newport and hit up the aquarium. Through the week we were able to show them some of the fun parks in Corvallis as well as hike Silver Falls. Another gorgeous place in Oregon. We had such a blast and had a hard time seeing them go.

Overall, June was a blast. We played really hard and had a great time. Scott started his job July 1st so we were really glad we got to go camping and see some new places in Oregon.
